DETROIT, Mich (July 6, 2014)- A man in Detroit was killed on the 4th of July, after witnesses say a mortar shell hit him in the chest.
It happened after a barbeque on the city’s west side. According to WJBK, the victim, 44-year-old Maher “Mike” Aburouman picked up an explosive to set it off when it shot in his direction, killing him instantly.
Ron Mohlman, who was the victim’s friend told WJBK he was there when it happened and held his hand afterwards.
Aburouman leaves behind a family, including four daughters.
