GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – FOX 17 News confirmed early Monday morning that the roof to a strip mall collapsed during the strong storms that moved through the area late Sunday evening, according to police.
The damage happened at the Pizzazz Banquet Center, 1537 Langley, in Grand Rapids.
Fire trucks were on the scene early Monday morning.
A witness tells FOX 17 News that a 60th birthday party was happening inside at the time of the storm. About 45 people were inside when the doors flew open and wind started blasted through the building. Everyone was told to get to the back of the building.
There were some reports of glass hitting some of the people inside; however, none of them had to go to the hospital.
