WEST MICHIGAN — (July 13, 2014) Storms that rolled through overnight brought heavy rain and gusty winds to parts of West Michigan creating sporadic power outages.
According to the Consumers Energy Outage Map, the outage areas are scattered through parts of Ottawa and Kent Counties with the Belmont area seeing the largest amount of customers in the dark with just over thirteen hundred people affected.
The outages occurred between 1 and 2 AM as storms in the area were creating almost one-thousand lightning strikes an hour, heavy rains and wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour.
