MINNEAPOLIS — He’s been here 13 other times, eight as a starter, but this time it’s Derek Jeter’s last All-Star Game.

The former Kalamazoo Central star was the center of attention at Monday’s media session with all of the All-Star players and coaches. Jeter is in a similar position as his former Yankees’ teammate Mariano Rivera, who was feted in his final All-Star Game last year. On Monday, Jeter downplayed the possibility of the same type of pageantry surrounding him in Tuesday’s game.

“I don’t expect anything,” said Jeter. I never came into this thing with expectations. You know Mo’s last All-Star Game was in New York. Kind of a different scenario. I’m just going to try to enjoy this one as much as I can.”

Jeter is the American League’s starting shortstop and will bat lead-off. The 85th MLB All-Star Game is Tuesday. FOX 17’s coverage begins at 6:30 p.m.
