West Michigan couple, business owners busted

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. – The owners of a Mecosta County business are in trouble with the law after investigators said they were passing bad checks.

They pair is also facing charges in nearby Newaygo County.

The following news release was sent to FOX 17 News from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department.

On Saturday, July 12th, Deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office arrested the owners of Your Floor Store of Big Rapids, Joseph Kukla, 29 of Morley, and his wife, Nancy Kukla, 28 of Morley, on Felony Fraud Warrants.

The arrest stem from an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office detectives into several complaints reporting the couple passing multiple Non-Sufficient personal checks  and also passing multiple Non-Sufficient business checks, totaling thousands of dollars.

The couple also face similar charges in Newaygo County.

The couple were both arraigned in the 77th District Court on Monday July 14th.  The couple remain in custody in the Mecosta County Jail.  Joseph has a $50,000 surety bond, Nancy has a $20,000 surety bond.
