High-risk traffic stop at Burton & 131 involves homicide suspect

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Police from two departments are involved with a high-risk traffic stop that involves a homicide suspect and has closed down Burton Street.

At 9:15 p.m. Thursday, police from both Wyoming and Grand Rapids stopped a car for a high-risk traffic stop on the Burton Street overpass over U.S. 131.

Police told FOX 17 NEWS that the stop involves a suspect in the active homicide investigation from Wednesday that resulted in the death of 25-year-old Charles Oppenneer.

The Burton Street ramps onto and off of the freeway have been closed and Burton Street is shut down on each side of the incident.
