COLUMBIA & BLOOMINGDALE TOWNSHIPS, Mich. — Police in Van Buren County continue to search for suspects involved in three different home invasions.

In the first break-in, on 24th Avenue in Columbia Township, police say that an elderly man saw a dark blue or black SUV pull into his driveway around 2:47 p.m. on July 16. At least one person, but possibly two, knocked on the front door, and when no one answered, the SUV left and the suspects went to the back of the house. Police say the suspects put on masks and stocking caps and forced their way into the home. They confronted the homeowner, and ran off, heading east. Police searched the area and did not find any evidence that would have identified the suspects.

The second and third home invasions took place near each other, on 6th Avenue in Bloomingdale Township. The victims were not home at the time, and when they returned, they found that their homes were ransacked and items were stolen. Police say that one homeowner reported that two guns and three flat-screen televisions were gone. Police believe the break-ins happened between 2:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.
