ALLENDALE, Mich., -- Grand Valley State University sophomore Megan Cloutier has plans to raise some serious cash this summer break. This week she launched an online campaign on IndieGoGo.com to collect donations for national mentoring non-profit Kids Hope USA.

The campaign, called "Crazy For Hope" aims to raise $39, 000 thousand dollars to fund a mentor for 375 at-risk kids for an entire school year.

"[The organization] has a church that provides mentors and then they go to an elementary school and meet with the kids once a week, talk to them, just kind of be a kind of support for them," explained Cloutier. "They need someone who's going to be a good mentor for them, someone that's going to pour into their lives."

The Biomedical Science major who's known for her silly antics on campus, has also thrown in a few crazy things to make the campaign interesting. For every $5,500 dollars that comes in, Cloutier will commit a "crazy" act like being a living statue, skydiving, and singing karaoke on a public bus.

"I'm not so much nervous about the crazy things, I guess sort of, but I'm more excited to see the money being raised," she told FOX 17 News. "It's a really good way to use my time and help other people, also it's a fun way of helping other people."

So far, about $2,500 dollars has been raised.

Cloutier is documenting her journey on aFacebook page. The campaign is slated to end in August.
