Child bound at wrists, shows signs of physical abuse, mother arrested

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – A 13-year-old juvenile was taken to Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek after being abused.

According to the Battle Creek Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of W. Rittenhouse Ave. investigating a runaway complaint. Officers received word that the juvenile returned home, but there were concerns over the juveniles welfare.

BC Police officers located the 13-year-old in the residence with his wrists bound. Officers also say that his legs may have been bound as well. The juvenile also showed signs of physical abuse as well.

After an investigation, the mother of the victim, a 34-year-old female was taken into custody and charged with wrongful imprisonment, felonious assault and child abuse.  She is currently being held at the Calhoun County Jail awaiting arraignment.

The victim was taken to Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek for his injuries and was released.

The Battle Creek Police Department is still investigating this incident.
