COMSTOCK PARK, Mich (July 21, 2014) -- The Detroit Tigers drafted Vanderbilt relief pitcher Adam Ravenelle in the 4th round on June 5, 2014. 20 days later, Ravenelle was on the mound when his Commodores beat Virgina, 3-2, to win the College World Series.

"That's huge, that's something that I will remember forever, we love doing that for coach Corbin (Vanderbilt University baseball coach Tim Corbin) and Vanderbilt University, it was just an unbelievable experience" Ravenelle said.

Now, Ravenelle is a member of the West Michigan Whitecaps after being called up from the Gulf Coast League on Saturday. Monday night, Ravenelle made his Caps debut throwing two scoreless innings and recording his 1st professional save in a 2-0 West Michigan win over Burlington at Fifth Third Ballpark. The Whitecaps use closer by committee and Monday just happened to be Ravenelle's turn.
