GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Strong to possibly severe storms may occur on Sunday. A strong cold front will sweep through the state late in the day and trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms. The primary threat with these storms will be strong damaging winds and potentially large hail.

Scattered showers and storms will likely develop to our west and begin moving in to our lakeshore locations by mid/late morning. A they track eastward through the area, the greatest threat for severe storms will occur during the mid/late afternoon, especially south/east of Grand Rapids.

Below is a snapshot from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) with a slight risk of severe weather (in yellow) in our eastern counties on Sunday. The graphic will likely be updated Sunday morning and may shift a bit north/south/east/west.

We should also note that a high beach hazard risk is likely on Monday on Lake Michigan as colder air and north/northwest winds kick up waves with small craft advisories. Get more at http://www.fox17online.com/weather.
