GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The weather around West Michigan the past several days has certainly been enjoyable. That said, many of us need rain and we’re quite dry. We have the chance at picking up a few showers and thunderstorms from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning as a cold front slips through the state, but some of us will likely be missed.

If you’re lucky enough to get caught underneath one of these much needed cells of rain, there may be some brief, heavy downpours, some wind, and some hail, but the Storm Prediction Center does NOT have Michigan in the risk for severe storms at this time. That means defined, prolonged, or widespread storms across our area are unlikely.

Those of us that miss the showers/storms Monday/Tuesday may have quite the wait for more wet weather. Our forecast models are indicating a dry stretch for the remainder of this week right through next weekend. Keep the sprinklers and garden hoses on standby this week. No really hot or really cool temperatures are in store for this first full week of August.
