6 injured in car crash in Cass County, alcohol might have played a factor

MILTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police were called to a crash on Redfield St. near Gumwood Road. just after 7 p.m. Saturday following reports of a crash involving injuries.

A 46-year-old Niles resident, Erika Kanczuzewski was driving with her two children, ages 13 and 8, heading westbound on Redfield St. when another vehicle turned in front of them. That vehicle, traveling southbound on Gumwood Road, was driven by a 23-year-old Granger resident, Stephen Armet.

Armet and a passenger were taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment, while another passenger along with the Kanczuzewski family were taken to Saint Joseph Regional Hospital for treatment.

Police report seat belts were worn but alcohol might have played a factor in the crash.

The case remains under investigation.
