Large fight leads to deputies finding a loaded handgun

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich.- One person is in the Kalamazoo County Jail after a large fight and a loaded hand gun were found early Sunday morning.

According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the 5800 block Jefferson Commons Circle in Oshtemo Township early Sunday morning after a call of a large party, with people fighting in the parking lot.

When deputies arrived on scene they found 60 people in the parking lot. Multiple vehicles fled the scene when deputies arrived. Deputies did obtain a description of a vehicle that had subjects with guns.

WMU Police observed a vehicle matching that description and made a traffic stop. When the traffic stop was made three subjects fled from the vehicle. The driver was detained and a loaded handgun was found with a high capacity magazine under the front seat of the vehicle. Another magazine was located along with more ammunition and one spent casing.

An MSP K-9 team was brought in to search for the remaining subjects, but that was unsuccessful.

The driver of the vehicle a Kalamazoo resident was arrested and is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
