Standoff situation in Battle Creek ends peacefully

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.- A standoff situation ended peacefully Sunday afternoon in Battle Creek.

Battle Creek Police Chief Jim Blocker tells FOX 17, that police officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of N. LaVista Blvd. and E. Summer St. Sunday morning. When officers arrived on scene they found a man and his girlfriend in home in the 200 block of E. Summer St. Officers then secured the perimeter of the home and a negotiator was called to the scene.

The negotiator was able to get the girlfriend out of the home and she was able to convince the man via a loud speaker to come out of the house as well.

The man was taken into custody on outstanding warrants according to the chief. The woman was not not taken into custody.

The scene was cleared by 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon and no injuries were reported.
