DETROIT — One of three Michigan residents appointed to a new Crossing Authority to work with the Canadian Windsor/Detroit/Bridge Authority is a leader of economic development efforts in Grand Rapids.

Birgit Klohs, president and CEO of The Right Place, was appointed to the new authority by Gov. Rick Snyder. Two other Michigan residents and three representatives from Canada will fill out the authority which will work with the Canadian authority in designing, financing, and operating the proposed International Crossing bridge.

The Right Place has supported efforts to build the bridge. The project has been long delayed by resistance from the owners of the existing Ambassador Bridge.
