GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand River is hosting a truly grand event as the 2014 US Rowing Masters National Championships  comes to west Michigan for the first time.

More than 1000 rowers are expected to take part in 199 events over 11 age categories. 55 National Champions were crowned on the first day of the event alone. While crews will be warming up all over the river, the race course runs north to south between Guild and Knapp streets. Spectator areas are on the east side of the river and a viewing tent has been set up with several HD TV’s so nobody misses a minute of the action. There’s also a beer garden featuring some of the area’s best brews and a vendor village with snacks and merchandise

The regatta runs from August 14-17 at Riverside Park, competition begins at 8am each day.
