Strong storms produce heavy rain, some damage

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It was a stormy day Tuesday in West Michigan. The storms produced a few reports of damage and a lot of reports of heavy rain.

The image pictured is a Doppler radar estimate of rainfall. The areas in green, mainly in Allegan and Barry Counties, is where at least two inches of rain fell. Here is a look at some of the higher rainfall totals from Tuesday:

  • Grand Rapids: 1.88″
  • Holland: 1.81″
  • Kalamazoo: 0.40″
  • Battle Creek: 0.64″
  • Muskegon: 0.58″

In addition to the heavy rain, there were a few reports of damage. This picture was posted on the FOX 17 Facebook page by Shawntelle Rice and shows some damage in Grand Junction (Van Buren County). There was also damage in South Haven and Sturgis.
