HUDSONVILLE, Mich. — Inspired by the Chicago World’s Fair, the Hudsonville Community Fair started in 1933 and has been going ever since.  Over the years, you can bet they’ve learned a thing or two about drawing crowds to what they like to call the “Biggest Little Fair in the State.”

Animal exhibits and live music have been a staple of the HCF since the beginning, but other things have changed over the years, including the fair’s location. Horses raced down Curtis Street in the early days; now motocross racers soar through the air and souped up tractors pull thousands of pounds of weight with engines roaring and mud flying on Park Avenue.

Arnold Amusements is in charge of the 2014 midway, and tickets are $1.25 each. Rides take 3 or 4 tickets. Armbands are available for $16-$20.

The Hudsonville Community Fair runs through August 23; gates open at 8 a.m. daily. Admission is $3 for adults; kids under 12 are free.
