HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday after officials said he ran into the side of a moving vehicle on West Lakewood Blvd. west of Aniline.

Ottawa County deputies responded to the scene at about 6:52 p.m.   They said a child initially ran across the road and the car slowed to avoid hitting them.

The 5-year-old, who was following the first child, ran into the car’s passenger side, a witness told officials.   He is currently in stable condition.

Deputies say the boy was trying to join his friend on the south side of the street when the incident happened.   No one else was injured.
