PORTAGE, Mich. — A suspected shoplifter led police on a high-speed chase early Monday morning, at times hitting speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.

The call came in shortly before 3:00 a.m. for a possible retail fraud at the Walmart in Portage.  Two male suspects had stolen at least one desktop computer, and threatened to harm one employee if they attempted to stop them.  Employees gave a suspect vehicle description, which officers were able to locate.

When they attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver floored it.  Eventually, the chase ended up on eastbound I-94, where the speeds hit 100 miles per hour.  They lost the suspect at the Sprinkle Road exit.

Officers say they are looking for a white Dodge Charger with Wisconsin plates.  Call Portage Police at 269-329-4556 if you have any information.
