VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — An 11-year-old boy has been treated for serious injuries, after police say he ran away from a home in which he suffered physical abuse at the hands of his mother’s boyfriend and the suspect’s mom.

The original 911 call came in early Tuesday morning, for a child walking along CR 380 in Columbia Township.  The caller said the boy refused to stop walking, and sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to go check on the situation.

When they arrived, they located the 11-year-old by himself.  He told investigators he had been physically abused and ran away from home.

The deputies found evidence that the boy was being abused by his mother’s  28-year-old boyfriend and the suspect’s 46-year-old mother at a residence on 60th Street in Geneva Township.

Child Protective Services responded, and removed not only the 11-year-old boy from the home, but also his two-year-old brother.  The younger child did not show signs of physical abuse.

The two suspects were arrested for Child Abuse 1st Degree, and were taken to the Van Buren County Jail.  Their names are being withheld pending arraignment.
