GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- It's name means "words to images" and the new Wimage app allows people with physical issues or creative struggles to simply say or type what they are thinking and then watch as they are turned into pictures on a tablet.

App co-creator Nic Jansma got the idea from Fashion Has Heart the initiative that pairs wounded military members with artists during ArtPrize. While their creative juices flowed during the competition, when the servicemen and women returned home, they struggled to bring ideas into reality. Students at Kendall College of Art and Design will test the app in an upcoming project where they will volunteer in the community then use Wimage to describe their experiences.

Wimage is available in the iTunes store and is free.
