BYRON CENTER, Mich. -- It's a chance to thank the men and women who have served our country and treat them to an amazing day on the golf course.
The inaugural Operation Golf With Heroes puts a twist on the traditional pro-am, where amateur golfers pay for the opportunity to play with a professional, by treating the servicemen and women as the "pro." It gives the military members a day in the spotlight and also allows them to network with West Michigan business leaders who are making up some of the teams in the field.
OGH is the brainchild of PGA Professional Sam Stover of Railside G.C. in Byron Center and tees it up at 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on September 8. Spectators are encouraged to come out and create a gallery to show appreciation for those in uniform.
