WALKER, Mich. — Nicole and Mary Coman knew they wanted to make creative masks for this year’s Art Prize but had no idea the Grand Rapids Griffins would want to team up.

The ladies use clay to make hockey masks that will be displayed outside of Van Andel Arena.  The public has the opportunity to walk up to the masks which will be displayed on tall posts and take a selfie with them.  The Griffins sent over jerseys, hockey sticks, flags and more for the Coman’s to use when constructing their art prize pieces.

Costs to make such elaborate pieces add up and Nicole and Mary created a kickstarter page in order to earn funds.  People who donate at least 175 dollars get to keep one of the mask adorned in Griffins memorabilia at the completion of ArtPrize.

The girls hope is that people enjoy the spirit of Art Prize and take lots of selfies using the hashtag, #GOGRGFilter
