WEST MICHIGAN — It has now been 13 years since the September 11 terror attacks against the United States.  And as the nation pauses to remember those who lost their lives, there are many local tributes scheduled around West Michigan.

One of those tributes includes an emotional traveling exhibit that is making its first stop in the state of Michigan:  the “9/11 Never Forget” mobile museum.

The exhibit is free and open to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on September 11.  There will also be the traditional ceremony at the site, which includes the changing of the flag with the Police Honor Guard and Boy Scouts, as well as the day-long salute from the Scouts.

Other 9/11 tributes include members of Western Michigan University’s ROTC Army and Air Force programs holding a vigil at the flagpole in front of the Seibert Administration Building starting at 8:46 a.m.

Another event is the Rockford American Legion’s presentation of a Community Commemoration In Remembrance of September 11.  It’s taking place at 6:30 p.m. at Post 102, located at 330 Rockford Park Drive NE in Rockford.

And in Kalamazoo, a Commemorative Service will be held on Thursday, September 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Bronson Park. The community will gather to mark the 13th anniversary of the attacks with each person in attendance receiving a ribbon, that will then be placed on replicas of the twin towers.
