Deputies looking for a man posing as a police officer

GRAND JUNCTION, Mich. – Van Buren County Sheriff deputies are on the lookout for a man who is impersonating a police officer.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, an incident happened Saturday afternoon outside of Grand Junction. Deputies state that the man with a military style haircut was wearing a police style uniform when he pulled over a vehicle.

The police impersonator asked for a license and registration from the driver and said that there was a warrant out of their arrest. The impersonator then told the driver that he could post a $100 bond or go to jail.

The driver paid the impersonator $100, but then called deputies when he did not get a receipt for the transaction.

The victim told deputies that the impersonator was driving a tan or gold Ford Crown Victoria. The victim also told deputies that the car had an overhead light bar which was used to pull over the driver.
