GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Law enforcement in Grand Rapids honored the life of a police officer killed in the line of duty in 2007.

More than a dozen softball teams made up of officers and fire fighters from all over the state took part in the 7th annual tournament to honor fallen GRPD Officer Robert Kozminski.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go towards the Thin Blue Line, which is a non-profit group that provides care and support for the families of officers who are killed in the line of duty.

Organizers said that since the death of Officer Kozminski, other officers killed while on the job are honored at the annual event also.

“We try to remember all of the officers and firemen that have lost their lives. It’s just called the Koz tournament in his memory, but we try to remember everybody, Butterfield, Trevor slot, Andy Rusticus, everybody,” said organizer Curt Hintz.

Organizers said that the annual event raises just under $10,000  dollars each year.
