GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Each year at ArtPrize we see controversial pieces pop up around town.  Some of them make a statement that others do not necessarily agree with.

Wednesday afternoon Timothy Gabriel arrived at his ArtPrize piece,  “Love Does Not Harm” to find someone had splattered it with red paint.  The piece depicts a gender neutral body atop a cross.  The body is filled in with news articles with homosexual slurs.

The piece is displayed at St. Marks Episcopal Church downtown Grand Rapids.
