DETROIT — Joe Nathan had a bumpy first season as the Detroit Tigers closer in 2014, and that’s putting it nicely.
The 39-year old right-hander (he turns 40 on November 22) had a 4.81 ERA and 35 saves in 42 opportunites for the Tigers this season and drew the ire of many Tigers fans.
In his one and only postseason appearance for the Tigers, Nathan threw a very easy ninth inning in Game 3 of the ALDS which saw the Orioles end Detroit’s season. After the game, he spoke with FOX 17 about his season and his future.
