Kentwood family awaits $4,200+ Home Depot refund following incomplete fence job

KENTWOOD, Mich. -- Cherie Nauta and her family made it through the July 6th tornado unharmed.

"We're very fortunate, but it was also very unexpected and devastating given that it's your first time you go through something like that," Nauta said.

However, the tornado destroyed her privacy fence behind her Kentwood home. Their insurance company wrote a check to replace it.
Nauta contacted Home Depot and got a quote.

They paid nearly $4,300 for a new fence and signed a contract on August 16th. The signed agreement said a third party contractor would build the fence "ASAP." Apparently ASAP meant several weeks and a lot of delays.

The family eventually asked for a refund, but that too was delayed.

I too had to wait over 2 1/2 months and dozens of phone calls to Corporate to get my fence completed by Home Depot, Mine was also promised ASAP. Finally, after weeks of phone calls, they promised me on a Monday that my fence would be done on Thursday. Thursday the contractor called me and cancelled promising to complete it on Friday. Friday came and after waiting all day, they showed up, dropped off all the fencing in my yard, and promised to come back Monday. I missed my cousins funeral on Friday waiting for them. They finally came the next Monday and got the fence done in one day. Their problem is lack of communication and too many middle men. The salesman they use promises EVERYONE asap, and the contractor that actually put the fence in said they are months behind. He is only sub-contracted from another company, from another company, (not a typo). After all my grief, they allotted me a $50.00. discount on the job. Woopee.

Why would you miss your cousins funeral? I get that it’s frustrating they keep canceling, but you seriously want people to believe that? You sound odd.

For them, wasting valuable time and money by putting off needed home improvements was simply no longer an option.
This option requires the most significant manufacturer investment.

Replacing old windows makes sense, and cents and dollars.
