BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — To call Bowling Green’s offense “up-tempo” is a disservice. It runs at the kind of pace that can make lungs burn early and often, averaging 481 yards and 36.4 points a game.

In its best effort of the season, Western Michigan’s defense had the lungs to slam the brakes on the “Falcon Fast” offense.

The Broncos forced two turnovers and held Bowling Green to 274 yards of offense – and Jarvion Franklin scored his nation-leading 16th rushing touchdown as Western Michigan got the biggest win of the P.J. Fleck era with a 26-14 victory in Ohio on Saturday.

The Falcons’ offense sprinted down the field on a 13-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to start the game, but were stifled by the Western defense the rest of the way.

Zach Terrell threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns for the Broncos – including a 63-yarder to Darius Phillips in the third quarter to give WMU the lead for good.

Frankling ran for 149 yards on 37 carries. Corey Davis caught game-high seven passes for 67 yards and score.

Western Michigan (4-3, 2-1 MAC) returns to Waldo Stadium next Saturday for Homecoming, hosting Ohio (3-4, 1-2 MAC) at 2:00 p.m.
