Now, Texas Governor Rick Perry is addressing the issue and saying mistakes were made.

The Governor said the way Ebola has been handled in Texas is unacceptable.

Governor Perry says new measures are being put in place but critics believe the governor was slow to react, saying Texas wasn’t ready to battle the threat.

This comes after two Dallas nurses were hospitalized for the disease after having direct contact with Thomas Eric Duncan.

He was the first man diagnosed with the disease in the United States.

Duncan died while Texas Presbyterian hospital workers tried to treat him.

Skeptics wonder if Duncan wasn’t treated as well as he could have been because he was black and had no insurance. But the doctor who treated him believes he was too sick to save.

“I find that remarkably insulting,” said Dr. Gary Weinstein of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. “I don’t know how better to describe that. The team here worked their tails off trying to save his life.”

76 health care workers are being monitored for signs of Ebola, including the top epidemiologist for Dallas County.
