Home invasion leads to one man being shot; Suspect arrested

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- One man is currently being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail after a Sunday morning home invasion and shooting.

According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, the incident happened around 5:45 a.m. Sunday morning in the 1800 block of Fulford Street. Officers state that a 28-year-old man from Kalamazoo forced his way into a residence in the 1800 block of Fulford St. That is when the victim confronted the suspect and the victim, a 25-year-old man from Kalamazoo, was shot in the leg.

The suspect then fled the scene.

The resident of the home knew the suspect’s name and detectives were able to track the suspect to a home in the 900 block of Stockbridge St. Where the suspect was arrested when he was trying to leave the home. A handgun was recovered from the suspect at the time of arrest.

The suspect in this case was arrested and is being charged with assault with intent to murder, home invasion, felony firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

The suspect is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail
