COOPERSVILLE, Mich. — A Muskegon man died Saturday night in a workplace accident at a dairy facility in Coopersville.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened around 10 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Randall Street at Continental Dairy.

Deputies state that a semi-truck driven by Ronald Hart, 57, had just unloaded a trailer in the loading dock of the facility, when Michael Yell, 54, of Hesperia, was standing on the passenger side of the semi-truck between the cab and the rear wheels. Hart did not see Yell standing there and moved the truck forward, striking Yell.

Deputies say that Yell suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Continental Dairy in Coopersville produces high quality nonfat dry milk, condensed skim milk, and cream for the food manufacturing industry.

This accident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
