KENTWOOD, Mich. – The old adage goes, "You get what you pay for." Well, the Nauta family paid a major home improvement chain nearly $4,300, but they never got their fence.
For two months, Cheri Nauta said she got the runaround. She said she asked for a refund during that time, but there was still a delay. Independent contractors were supposed to do the work.
Within one week after contacting the FOX 17 Problem Solvers, Nauta and her husband Dan got their money back.
Home Depot came through on the refund, and the Kentwood couple’s fence is finally near completion.
"Call FOX 17, by all means, if you have an issue that you need help getting resolved,” Nauta said.
The July 6th tornado destroyed their original fence. Kentwood and neighboring Wyoming saw widespread destruction. The young family knows the devastation could have been much worse. "We're very fortunate," Nauta said.
The couple said it spent $2,000 on a fence at Menard's and learned from their insurance company they can keep the other $2,300 fordoing the work themselves.
"You guys responded, and we're very very thankful, appreciative, thankful and just feel that you made it happened, you helped,” Nauta said.
