CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Mich. — The Michigan DNR has confirmed two recent photos taken in the eastern Upper Peninsula are, indeed, of cougars.

According to the DNR’s Wildlife Division, the confirmations are the 25th and 26th times cougar evidence has been verified in the Upper Peninsula since 2008.

One photo was taken on private property in Chippewa County in late October (which the DNR says it does not have permission to distribute), and the other was taken by a trail camera in early November in Mackinac County.
