PORTAGE, Mich.–An unconscious woman was saved from a burning building Saturday night.

Fire officials said they were called to Oakside St. just after 11:30 p.m. The fire was found in the basement, and was quickly put out.

The woman was found unconscious in a bedroom and taken to a local hospital.

More than 15 snakes were saved from the home, said fire officials, but a dog and several small snakes didn’t make it.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
