GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--A worldwide movement has come to Grand Rapids. It's called "This is a good sign." The purpose is simply to make people smile.

"We want you guys to help us inspire the world to be a happier and more friendly place, one good sign at a time," said Kevin Lamb as he handed "good signs" to people on Grand Rapids' sidewalks.

Lamb, from the Detroit area, travels the world giving people "a good sign." The movement was started by Eric Dennis in 2010 as a way to just make people smile.

"It's given my life a purpose that I would have never found," Lamb said. "I once thought I would spend my life playing baseball and I'm happy I found something that's much better for myself."

Now hundreds of thousands of people have joined the movement through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, including those Lamb met walking the streets of downtown Sunday.

"It just made me happy," said John Robert Mitchell. "It's like this guy is running around here making people smile and laugh. It's a cool thing."

"We were kind of confused," said Monica James. "I saw him walking across the street with a sign and I was like oh just a happy guy spreading good vibes to everyone," said Mary Piper.

Lamb hopes by handing out the "good signs," those people then continue to spread the word and make it a happier place one sign at a time.

"I'm probably going to stick it on my car window, right in the front," said Mitchell.

"I love helping people," Lamb said. "I love offering hope and remind people that they are not and will not be alone."

Lamb and Dennis recently began a kickstarter campaign to help spread the "This is a good sign" campaign even further. If you'd like to learn more or get your own "This is a good sign" click here.
