ZEELAND, Mich.,– Doran Robin Eichenberg is Amway’s November Pay it Forward Person of the Month.

The 20-year-old singer/songwriter has been performing around West Michigan since high school. He’s also a cancer survivor. His fight against the disease has inspired him to share his music to uplift others and help those in the same situation.

“Whether it’s about hope, faith or whatever it may be, I think we all have something we need to hear sometimes, ” he told FOX 17 News. “I’ve always just really had a heart for speaking into people’s lives and encouraging them.”

The singer, who performs Christian music under the stage name Doran Robin, spent a decade as a patient at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Eichenberg said he was shocked when he was first diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 10.

“It was a tough walk, there were a lot of nights of pain, and of just wondering why I was experiencing what I was experiencing,” he explained. “Knowing the experience that I would have with people, and being able to relate to them and stand by them in some of their hard times, I don’t think I would change anything going back.”

Doran Robin has become an official partner with Make-A-Wish Michigan. He’s sharing the power of a wish and raising hundreds of dollars to make more kids’ wishes come true. Eichenberg recalls how life-changing it was to have his wish, getting a swimming pool, granted when he was younger.

“The Make-A-Wish Foundation was an extremely huge blessing in my life,” he said. “I wanted to bless them back so I decided I was going to donate a $1 of every CD that I sold back to Make-A-Wish Foundation.”

Eichenberg has also begun performing at area Orange Leafstores to raise additional money for the organization. He currently performs at the Holland location on Fridays and the Grandville location on Saturdays. A portion of the profits from frozen yogurt sales is also being donated to Make-A-Wish.

The singer is also collecting toys at both shops to deliver to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital andC.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. He also plans to perform a holiday concert at both facilities as well.
