HUDSONVILLE, Mich.–  A Fruitport Township police officer, arrested after allegedly drunk driving with a 3-month-old infant in his car, pleaded not guilty to operating while intoxicated, Wednesday.

Timothy Michael Thompson, 36, was taken into custody on I-96 near 68th Avenue in Coopersville at about 4:30 a.m. late November, according to court documents.

The documents allege that his blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit.

He is out on bond, but a judge added Thompson must submit to random alcohol tests and vehicle searches.

Fruitport Township Police Chief Ken Doctor says Thompson is no longer employed with the department.

If convicted, Thompson could face up to a $1,000 fine and anywhere from five days to one year in prison.

Thompson politely declined to comment on the issue after his court appearance.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
