Tributes and services begin for fallen Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputy

INGHAM COUNTY, Mich. — Family, friends, and fellow police officers are coming together to pay tribute to fallen Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputy Grant William Whitaker.

Whitaker was killed in the line of duty on Sunday when he crashed his car during a high-speed pursuit.  You can view his obituary right here.

A public visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. as well as Friday, December 12, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The visitations will be held at Saint Mary Catholic Church at 14200 E. Old US 12 Highway, Chelsea, Michigan, 48118.

The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 also at the Saint Mary Catholic Church.

The Ingham County Sheriff’s office is hosting a separate candlelight vigil in tribute to Deputy Whitaker.  The vigil will be held Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. around the Police Memorial in front of the office located at 630 N. Cedar Street in Mason, Michigan.
