$10,000 reward offered in Ingham Co. deputy death investigation

INGHAM COUNTY, Mich. — A $10,000 reward is being offered for information on the person or people being pursued by Ingham County Deputy Grant Whitaker at the time of his death.

Whitaker, 25, was killed Dec. 7 during a high-speed chase outside of Stockbridge.  Crime Stoppers announced a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the occupants of the vehicle Whitaker was pursuing.

According to a release from Michigan State Police, the vehicle was a light-colored SUV.  Whitaker was chasing the vehicle on Dexter Trail east of M-52 when he lost control and struck a tree.

The crash happened at about 2:11 a.m.

No other information about the suspect or their vehicle is available.
