OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A murder warrant was issued Thursday for the death of 72-year-old Sharon Roersma.
Her son, 50-year-old Michael Roersma, will be charged with beating her to death and dumping her body into the Grand River, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials say Sharon Roersma was murdered Sept. 29 at her home in Coopersville.
Her son was charged with lying to a police officerin October in connection with her death, but was not charged with her murder. He will be formally charged in Grand Haven District Court at 9 a.m. Friday.
Roersma allegedly admitted to police to being with his mother when she died and dumping her body in the Grand River.
