MUSKEGON, Mich. — A man was taken into custody Thursday and arraigned Friday for a series of area armed robberies late this year.

On Friday afternoon, the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest and charging of Mark Anthony Miller, 39, for several local armed robberies that occurred at businesses from September through December.

The prosecutor’s office said the combined work of the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, Fruitport Township Police Department, Muskegon Township Police Department, Muskegon Police Department and Michigan State Police resulted in the prosecutor’s office filing four separate charges of armed robbery involving local businesses.

A fifth case is being charged in Mason County and a sixth case is expected to be filed in Muskegon County.

The businesses in the charges filed Friday include Kentley’s Pizza, Hab’s Restaurant, McCormick Food and Fuel, and Jet Fuel.

Miller has been implicated in at least three other cases that the prosecutor’s office is reviewing.

The prosecutor’s office said Miller “is a career criminal” and has been charged in each case as being a habitual felony offender.

His prior charges include attempted resisting or obstructing a police officer, second-offense drunken driving, attempted unlawful driving of an automobile, attempted larceny in a building and three cases of unlawful driving of a motor vehicle.

Miller is being held on $250,000 bond in each case.
