Foodie, bae included on Lake Superior State’s latest list of ‘banished’ words

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — If your bae is a foodie, Lake Superior State University is asking that you find a new way to describe them.

Those two words were among the 12 entries onLSSU’s 40th annual list of banished words.

Bae, a popular term for a significant other that means “before anyone else,” was one of the top nominees this year.  Swag, polar vortex and takeaway were also included on the latest list.

The tradition was started by former LSSU public relations director W.T. Rabe to point out words for “Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness.”

According to a release, more than 800 entries have been “banished” over the years.
