DETROIT, Mich. -- The 2015 North American International Auto Show begins in Detroit Monday morning with the prestigious North American Car & Truck of the Year awards.

UPDATE: Ford F-150 takes the 2015 Truck of the Year honors. The Volkswagen Golf wins North American Car of the Year.

This year four of the six finalists were from Detroit-based automakers. Last year, Chevrolet swept the awards with the new Corvette Stingray and Silverado.

The finalists for car of the year included the 2015 Ford Mustang, Hyundai Genesis and Volkswagen Golf. Truck of the year finalists included the Ford F-150, Lincoln MKC and Chevrolet Colorado.

Often referred to as the Super Bowl of auto shows, the show encompasses more than 700,000 square feet of floor space displaying more than 700 vehicles from automakers from across the globe.
