GANGES TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A wanted murder suspect is accused of killing his own wife.
West Michigan's Most Wanted is learning new details about fugitive Harold "Butch" Knight, who the U.S. Marshals say is to be considered armed and dangerous.
WMMW obtained a video copy of the probable cause hearing seeking a warrant for Knight’s arrest.
“On 1-13-2015 Allegan County Central Dispatch received a phone call from an unidentified male stating that police were needed at the address of 6216 116th Avenue, that’s in Ganges Township,” the sworn in officer said.
The hearing reveals new details about the murder of 44-year-old Sarah Knight.
“The unidentified male who called dispatch on the phone advised dispatch on a taped line that they did harm to this person and that they were leaving the country,” the officer said.
Authorities say Butch is likely driving this green 2009 Subaru Forester with Michigan license plate GM74A, but authorities say he may have switched the plate to an expired Maine license plate.
“Later I did speak with Harold Knight’s son who stated that the voice who made the recording on the phone call was his father, Harold Wesley Knight, who is now missing,” the officer stated before a magistrate.
Photos released by authorities are believed to have been taken around the time of Sarah’s murder. In them, Butch appears to be wearing the same hat and jacket.harold knight photo 1
“There were obvious signs of ligature strangulation,” the officer said.
Authorities are still awaiting an autopsy to determine an official cause of death, with all evidence pointing to one man who now roams our streets.
“No sign of forced entry, the body was covered and some personal items were placed by the body to help locate and contact family members,” the officer said.
Sixty-six-year-old Butch Knight should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
If you know where he is call the Allegan County Sheriff's Department at (269) 673-0500.
