Fire destroys part of Coldwater Inn; residents displaced

COLDWATER, Mich. —  Several people were displaced Monday after a fire destroyed part of the Coldwater Inn, 180 E. Chicago Rd.

According to The Daily Reporter, the fire started at about 4 a.m. and destroyed much of the west section of the building.  More than 50 people were evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

The residents who were displaced in the fire have been temporarily relocated to the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center.

Prior to the Monday morning blaze, firefighters were called to the motel on Sunday to extinguish a small fire in the attic of the same area, according to The Daily Reporter.  

Emergency crews are still on the scene.
