I-96 reopen in Ottawa Co. after gas leak

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — I-96 was shut down in both directions Friday after a gas leak was reported near Coopersville.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the highway was closed between 48th and 68th avenues at about 11 a.m.   It was reopen as of 11:40 a.m.

The eastbound 48th Avenue exit remained closed while Hazmat crews respond to the gas leak, but has since reopened.  There were no evacuations in the area.
